Kalavarnam – Delhi Based Organisation Promoting Music, Dance & Theater
Kalavarnam is Delhi based Organization, run by dedicated group of artists, from various fields of art and culture such as music, dance, theater, etc. working incessantly towards the promotion of Indian artists and culture within and outside India.
Founded in 1997, Kalavarnam has trained and promoted thousand of young artists from India and abroad. As followers of art and with the help of kala Sangam. Its sister concern in Paris, France, kalavarnam has further taken the initiative to show glimpse of Indian performing and visual art forms not only through the length and breadth of India but also other countries. We aim to promote research, documentation and dissemination of traditional arts, crafts music and dances of India and to revive and patronize the old and dying art forms. We also help in providing a forum for cultural exchange with international communities and countries, in order to create greater awareness among common people about other races and cultures and to draw parallelisms between the myriad art forms of various regions of the world, most of the art forms have steamed from the Indian culture.
Kalavarnam has shown active participation in national and international art festivals and fairs like the world gipsy festival, where it acclaimed wide apperception for its art performances. Participation in such festivals and fairs has helped kalavarnam broaden its horizons and given it an impetus in the field of performing arts.
We successfully organized two cultural exchange programmes in the past, one with Nepal and another with Mexico. Another commendable achievement was a musical event glorified by the performance of the renowned tabla maestro, Ustad Zakir Hussain and kathak exponent Pt. Rajendra Gangani.
Kalavarnam believes that art is a universal language that transcends all boundaries created by man and binds together all humanity with the same chord of peace and brotherhood and this belief is what keeps it going we have recently acquired F.C.R.A status (Foreign currency registration act) and are currently working on projects to promote Indian art culture, in collaboration with international artists.
