Accomplished Hindustani Classical Vocalist, New Delhi - Mahua Chatterjee

Ms Mahua Chatterjee is an accomplished and immensely versatile young Hindustani Classical Vocalist. Born into the family of music connoisseurs, she was groomed from an early age by her renowned vocalist parents Prof. Arun Chatterjee of Kirana Gharana and Smt. Shefali Chatterjee. Presently she is receiving valuable guidance from the famous maestros Pt. Rajan Mishra and Pt. Sajan Mishra of Banaras Gharana.

My Strengths in Music - Gifted with a melodious voice Mahua has already established a unique personal style that bears the mark of a diligently perfected skill, as well as talent.

She is known particularly for her authentic exposition of ragas and amazingly complex yet aesthetically well structured presentation of Sargam and Taans. Her music is thus distinguished for its depth and strong individual element while at the same time being deeply evocative.

A beautiful combination of the characteristics of Kirana and Banaras Gharanas is found in her music. This is probably the reason why she has received acclaim not only from general audience but also from distinguished musicians and music critics. She is a Post Graduate in Sanskrit and sings Sanskrit devotional songs / slokas composed by herself. She is also equally efficient in singing other forms of Hindustani light classical forms like Thumri, Bhajan, etc.

Performances & Awards - Mahua Chatterjee Mahua has participated in a number of prestigious music conferences in major cities of India.

Her performances in Sangeet Natak Academy Music Festival held in Goa in 1995 were held in high acclaim.
She has also been awarded Junior Fellowship for advanced training in Music by the Dept. of Culture, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India.

Mahua sings Bengali songs like Nazrulgeeti, Adhunik Bengali Geet, Atul Prasadi, Rajanikanta, Bhakti Geeti and Ragprodhan and bhajans proficiently. She has performed at many of the Sarbojanin Durga Puja Cultural Programmes in Delhi.
